St Columba Preschool


St Columba Uniting Church Preschool, in Figtree NSW, was opened in July 1970, to provide care for preschool aged children.  It is a community based, not-for-profit preschool, which operates under the auspices of the Keiraview Congregation and Uniting Church Children’s Services.

St Columba Uniting Church Preschool is committed to providing high quality child care and education, to meet the needs of children and families in the local community.


  • Each child is valued and respected as an individual.  We aim to provide an environment that encourages children to develop their capabilities and interests at their own pace and according to their individual needs.
  • To develop and extend each child’s skills, knowledge and interests through successful experiences which encourage the development of a healthy self concept and positive self esteem.

  • To provide qualified, experienced and caring staff to meet the needs of individual children and support their families.
  • The preschool follows the Christian ethos and is sensitive and respectful to all cultural and religious practices.
  • We welcome parent advice and participation in all aspects of the preschool program and value them as equal partners in the education process of children.
  • We value and respect the diversity of all children and promote inclusive practices throughout out program.

Centre Operation

– The preschool is licensed by the Department of Community Services (DoCS) to cater for 30 children per day from 3-5 years of age.
– Hours of operation are from 8.45am to 3.30pm.
– Our preschool is opened Monday to Friday (except for Public Holidays) during the NSW School terms.
– The Authorised Supervisors are Elena Santarelli (Monday & Wednesday) and Cheryl Collinson-Smith (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday).


Our preschool has a policy of employing qualified primary contact staff and is dedicated to supporting continued professional development.Primary contact staff are trained in providing quality care and educational programs in early childhood settings. These programs are continually evaluated to ensure they meet the developmental needs of the children in our care. All primary staff at St Columba Preschool hold current Senior First Aid Certificates that are updated every three years.
